Award winning furniture designer and maker, Andrew Varah, creates beautiful, affordable contemporary furniture. Andrew specialises in designing bespoke furniture in styles from contemporary to traditional. Many pieces are designed to reflect the style of a particular building or living space. Every piece is unique, designed and made to commission. Andrew and his team of five young cabinet makers create the exceptional every day. Andrew’s clients include heads of state, international companies, world famous sports people, and countless individuals who are prepared to seek out the best furniture made today. Andrew Varah established his workshops in 1975, designing and making individual pieces of furniture. His 17th century English farmhouse includes old barns converted into sufficient workshop space for him and his five young cabinet makers. Andrew designs every piece, and his skills include fine marquetry, specialist veneering, carving in solid wood, gilding and the use of glass and metal. He is able to look back in time and design, though never copy, a period piece. Working with clients, every piece is unique and a reflection of the personality of the client. Andrew Varah is a member of the West Midlands (UK) Arts Association. He has been appointed for the past 9 years to the Irish Government as External Examiner, awarding final assessments to students attending the only Irish furniture making college. For the past 12 years, he has been a member of the Craft Advisory Committee at Ryecote College in Oxford, England. He lectures a Bachelors program at Buckingham University College and sits on the validation panel for the BA course at the University of Lincoln. He is a published author and contributor to numerous publications world-wide. His work is held in public and private collections in the UK, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, USA, Russia and the Bahamas.
